Herb Sostek

Herb Sostek served as President, CEO, and owner of Gibbs Oil Company. Gibbs was the largest independent distributor of gasoline in the U.S., and in the top 5 for distribution of Heating Oil and Diesel fuel. At its peak, Gibbs employed approximately 4,000 people, with sales well in excess of $1 billion per year. The business was sold to British Petroleum. After Gibbs, Mr. Sostek served as Chairman and CEO of Astroline Corporation. Astroline was a marketing and trading company with sales of several billion dollars per year. As sole owner and Director of Downhole Injection Systems, an oil field service company focused on servicing natural gas wells in the U.S. and Middle East, he grew the company from $20k in annual revenue to over $4 million in 2 years and later sold the company to Chevron/Texaco. He was a consultant to several U.S. oil companies, Petroperu (the national oil company of Peru), and PDVSA (the national oil company of Venezuela).

In addition, Mr. Sostek has served in various roles in trade groups and government advisory boards for the oil and gas industry, including the Department of Energy, the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America, Independent Fuel Terminal Operators and the American Petroleum Institute. He is also an investor and advisor to Sustainable Forest Systems, a sustainable forestry project operating in the Bolivian hardwood forests.
